VICTORVILLE, CA - Officials gave a formal welcome Tuesday to Church & Dwight during the company's dedication ceremony for its new Victorville plant, which is now fully operational and employing 100 people.
“In these difficult economic times, it is great news that Church & Dwight has chosen our community for its new manufacturing facility and distribution center,” Keith Metzler, assistant city manager for Victorville, said in a statement. “Creating more than 100 new jobs in our area is exactly what we needed.”
Church & Dwight manufactures Arm & Hammer liquid laundry detergent, XTRA laundry detergent and Arm & Hammer clumping cat litter at the site.
The New Jersey-based company took over the 450,000-square-foot facility that had been occupied by M&M/Mars for nearly a decade at Foxborough Industrial Park on 42 acres at the northeast corner of Nisqualli and Hesperia roads. M&M/Mars moved a few miles away to Southern California Logistics Airport.
Church & Dwight chose the Victorville site for its proximity to raw material suppliers and major customers, as well as its easy access to Interstate 15, company officials said in a statement.
“Victorville has all the right elements for serving our customers in the West and Southwest, and we are pleased to be new members of the community,” said James R. Craigie, chairman and CEO of Church & Dwight.
The facility employs a combination of salaried and hourly workers, including warehouse operators, line operators and support staff. Many of those employees attended Tuesday’s ceremony along with local officials and special guests.
The company invested approximately $30 million in capital expenditures and $8 million in expenses to relocate a portion of its Green River, Wyo., operations here.
Church & Dwight officials said the local site could be expanded in the future.
